Southsider Voice correspondent
In two weeks The Southsider Voice will celebrate the 100th running of the Indianapolis. We are in full swing writing stories and collecting photographs that link area businesses and neighbors to the Greatest Spectacle in Racing.
I am having lunch today with Nancy Wilcox-Vittorio-DeBaun and Wendy Barth-Servies. Nancy’s father, Howdy Wilcox II, was a charter member of the Speedway’s 100 Miles Per Hour Club. Wendy and her mother, Diane Hunt-Barth were 500 Festival queens, Diane in 1961, Wendy in 1986. I’m sure they will have some great pictures and maybe some good stories.
Al Stilley, The Voice’s senior staff writer, is penning some great articles. He has a lot of connections with the folks at the Speedway.
There are many Southsiders who have contributed to the Indy 500. If you know of any or have some good race-related pictures, call us at 781-0023.
