Card Party and Raffle

Independent Bookstore Day Bookmamas and the Indiana Historical Society’s Basile History Market are celebrating Independent Bookstore Day on Saturday. Bookmamas, 9 S. Johnson Ave. in Irvington will be open from 10 a.m.- 7 p.m. Activities include a scavenger hunt and readings from Kurt Vonnegut’s “A Man Without A Country.” The market, 450 W. Ohio St., will be open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Each visitor will receive a ticket for a door prize and an additional ticket for every $10 spent. A 10 percent discount will be offered on regularly priced books at both stores. Sale on Children’s Clothing, Toys, Books, Maternity Clothes A sale on gently used clothing for infants through teenagers, toys, books, baby items and maternity wear will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Westside Church of the Nazarene, 8610 W. 10th St. Salad Luncheon St. John’s United Church of Christ, 7031 S. East St., will host its annual salad luncheon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, May 4. A variety of homemade salads and desserts will be available, as well as carryout service. The cost is $8 and includes desserts and a beverage. Proceeds will support the church’s outreach initiatives. Garden Show The Johnson County Garden Club and Purdue Master Gardeners will host their annual show from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Johnson County Fairgrounds. Donate Hair for Wigs, 5K and Fun Run Anyone who has more than 8 inches of hair that they would like to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths can get their locks cut off at 2:15 p.m. Friday at SS. Francis & Clare Catholic School, 5901 W. Olive Branch Road, Greenwood. The hair will be used to make wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments. Proceeds will benefit the Y’s annual campaign, which allows families, children and individuals the opportunity to participate in programs regardless of ability to pay.
