​Psychic Fair 
The Pyramid of Enlightenment Spiritual Center, 8101 E. Washington St., will host a psychic fair from noon-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will be readers ($10 for 15 minutes) of all types, including astrology, clairvoyance, numerology, palmistry and tarot. Door prizes and aura pictures will also be available. School Board Member Will Be Honored

Rubie L. Alexander, a longtime member of the Perry Township Board of Education and an activist for the school district, will be honored at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at the township’s Education Center, 6548 Orinoco Ave.
An Old-Fashioned Christmas
The Franklin Township Historical Society’ welcomes the public to its annual old-fashioned Christmas celebration at 6 p.m. Sunday at The Meeting House (built in 1871), 6510 S. Franklin Rd. The gala will include the singing of carols with accompaniment from the building’s original antique pump organ, readings of “The Night Before Christmas” and “The Christmas Story,” punch and cookies and a candle luminaria lining the pathway to the building.

Best-selling Author Will Visit
Billed as one of the finest young adult novelists writing today, Maggie Stiefvater will visit Greenwood Middle School, 523 S. Madison Ave., from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, to present a lecture and signs copies of her books. Stiefvater, also known for her artistic and musical talents,  has been highly praised for her latest series, “The Raven Cycle.” Call 317-881-1953 or visit www.greenwoodlibrary.us to register. 

Christmas Concert

The Chordlighters Barbershop Chorus will present its “Secret of Christmas Concert” at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Franklin Performing Arts Center, 2600 Cumberland Drive. Featured performers include The Isom Elemenary Voices, The Honor Choir and The Late Shift Quartet. Tickets are $15; $12 per person in parties of 10 or more. Info: 317-346-8110.

Fruit Baskets

Boy Scout Troop 92 is selling fruit baskets for $15 through Sunday. For people who don’t like fruit, they can purchase a basket and donate to U.S. troops stationed at Stout Field. Orders can be placed by calling Katie Leach at 317-518-4267 or emailing troop96.indiana@gmail.com. The baskets will be delivered the week of Dec. 11. 

Free Christmas Concert
The Greater Greenwood Community Band will present its annual Christmas concert at 7  p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Greenwood High School, 615 W. Smith Valley Road. While admission is free, a donation of canned goods for the Salvation Army’s pantry is requested. 

Ave Maria Guild Christmas Party

The Ave Maria Guild will hold its Christmas Party at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at St. Paul Hermitage. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and nonperishable food items for the poor.

Christmas Bazaar and Chili Luncheon
Holy Name Church will host a holiday bazaar and chili luncheon from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 (lunch 11 a.m.-4 p.m.), at its Parish Life Center, 21 N. 16th Ave., Beech Grove. The event will feature crafts, baked goods and raffles for $300, $200, $100 and a $100 Meijer gift card. Vendor space is available by calling 317-784-6860 or emailing p108cmaster@sbcglobal.net. 

Southport Choirs Will Perform Christmas Concert
Southport High School’s choirs will be featured in a Festival of Carols concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 650 N. Meridian St. The choirs will join the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra in performing Christmas classics. Tickets cost from $20 to $40 and are available at www.indychoir.

Christmas Run
The Rotary Club of Greenwood and Greenwood Christian Academy will host its inaugural 5K Christmas run/walk Saturday, Dec. 17, at the academy, 835 W. Worthsville Road. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m., and the first 300 people to sign up get a free Santa suit for the race. There will be food and contests for the ugliest sweater and best-dressed pet. Vote for Zoo’s Celebration of Lights
The Indianapolis Zoo’s celebration of Christmas lights – a tradition since 1967 – has been nominated again for USA Today’s 10 Best Zoo Lights, and zoo officials are hoping to take top honors with an outpouring of votes from fans of the gala, which includes train rides, light displays, shows, carolers and a carousel. People can vote once daily through Dec. 5 at http://bit.ly/2fDiVOZ.  

Open House at Ronald McDonald Charities
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana, 435 Limestone St., will host its Home for the Holidays open house from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29. Guests can enjoy hors d’oeuvres, cookies, Christmas music and hot chocolate while visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and Ronald McDonald. Those attending are asked to bring gifts, games and clothing for the nearly 60 families staying at the house.

Shop at Small Businesses on Saturday 
Launched in 2010 by American Express, Small Business Saturday will be celebrated Saturday. Leading the cause will be the Irvington Business Association, whose members have planned a day of special buys, music and giveaways. “Small, locally owned businesses add much to the community,” an American Express spokesperson said. “Living in the community, the owners are your neighbors. Their interests are your interests. Small businesses donate to local organizations while fostering prosperity.”

Shopping for Fine Art?
The Southside Art League, 299 E. Broadway St., Greenwood, will feature works by its members during a Christmas sale from Dec. 1-23. The show will feature an array of original works in a variety of media, including oil, watercolor, pastel, photography, ceramics, greeting cards and prints. A layaway plan will be available. The gallery is open from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays and by appointment (call 317-882-5562).     

Center Collecting Toys for Its Christmas With Santa
Cardwell Do-it Best Home Center and the People Helping Network are hosting a toy drive for their annual Christmas With Santa. Toys can be dropped off at the center, and monetary donations can be mailed to the People Helping People Network, c/o Cardwell Home Center, 3205 Madison Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46227. More than 500 children visited with Santa last year, and all of them received free gifts and a candy cane with a special holiday message. Info: 317-781-4769.
