Country Fair and Luncheon 
The women of Irvington Presbyterian Church, 55 Johnson Road, will host a country fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday and a luncheon from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The event will feature a rummage and bake sale, a boutique, a raffle and gifts for all occasions. Info: 356-7225 or visit www.irvpresby.org.

Spaghetti Dinner, Silent Auction
The Southport Lions Club will sponsor a spaghetti and meatballs dinner and silent auction from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the Southport Community Center, 6901 Derbyshire Road. The cost is $8 and includes a salad, beverages and desserts. Proceeds will be used to buy a new costume for Justice, the Police Department’s mascot.

Benefit Car Wash
A benefit car wash for Southport High School senior Ethan Knox, whose mother was found dead Sept. 8 in her car near their home, will be held from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at Beck Service Center, 6025 Madison Ave. Knox, who lived with his mother, will use the proceeds to pay bills. 

Bead, Gem and Jewelry Show
The 18th annual Indianapolis Fall Bead, Gem, Mineral & Jewelry Show runs from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds Agriculture/Horticulture Building, 1202 E. 38th St. In addition to fine gems and beads, the event will feature jewelry makers, goldsmiths, silversmiths and classes in bead stringing and lampwork bead making. There will also be hourly door prizes and a grand prize, which features a precious stone set in a gold ring. Admission is $5 and good for all three days, with ages 15 and under admitted free. Scottish Games and Festival
Featuring world-class amateur athletes and fun for the entire family, the seventh annual Indianapolis Scottish Highland Games & Festival will be held from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at German Park, 8600 S. Meridian St. The entertainment will feature bagpipers, live music and dancers. There will also be Scotch whisky tasting, food, vendors and a Scottish royal court. Retired Teachers Will Meet
Members of the Perry Township Retired Teachers Association will meet for lunch at 10:45 a.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at MCL Restaurant & Bakery, 3630 S. Neighborhood Association Reforming
A group of concerned citizens is interested in restarting the Northwest Perry Neighborhood Association, which is bounded by Troy Avenue to the north, Madison Avenue to the east, I-465 to the south and Harding Street to the west. An informative meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the St. Roch Parish Life Center, 3603 S. Meridian St.

Manual Class of 1971 Reunion
Manual High School’s Class of 1971 will host its 45-year reunion from 7 p.m.-midnight Saturday, Oct. 22, at The Atrium, 3143 E. Thompson Road. Booth Space Available for Yard and Bake Sale
Keenan-Stahl Boys & Girls Club, 1949 E. Troy Ave., has booth space available for $20 for its community yard and bake sale, which will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Info: 302-565-7058.

Former Hospital Employees Will Hold Luncheon
Former employees of University Heights Hospital will meet for their fall luncheon and reunion at 11 a.m. Friday at Golden Corral, 160 Marlin Drive, just north of Meijer on the west side of State Road 135.

Chili Cook-off and Halloween Party
Marion County South Special Olympics is hosting a chili cook-off and a Halloween party from 4-8:30 p.m. Saturday at 7715 Knapp Road (south on Franklin Road past Southport Road to McGregor Road, turn left, then right on Knapp). The event will feature a costume contest, a silent auction, hayrides, pumpkin decorating, volleyball, live music and food. Abstract art exhibit opens Saturday

The best place in Indianapolis to see some fine examples of contemporary art will be at the Southside Art League’s National Abstract Art Exhibition XII, which opens Saturday at the Garfield Park Art Center.
​
Thirty-seven professional artists from Indiana, California, Texas, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Ohio and Virginia will display and sell their works through Oct. 22 at the center, 2450 Shelby St.

The opening reception and awards ceremony will run from 6-8 p.m. Saturday; black ties are optional.
Regular hours for the exhibit are 2-9 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, noon-4 p.m. Fridays and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturdays.
