ISO Among Performers at Garfield Park
The blast of trumpets, the warmth of woodwinds and the thunder of percussion will permeate the air of Garfield Park when the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra takes the stage of the MacAllister Center for the Performing Arts, 2450 Shelby St., at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 12.

Patrons can grab a seat in the amphitheater or bring a blanket or lounge chairs and enjoy a picnic on the lawn. Either way, they’ll find themselves humming along to familiar melodies throughout the free concert.
Presented by the Friends of Garfield Park, the free event is among those annually supported by the organization. Donations for the group’s work can be made at www.garfieldparkindy.org.

Endearing Play Depicts Southern Women
Often referred to as one of the most delightful plays about Southern women, “Belles” will open Friday, July 7, at Epilogue Players, 1849 N. Alabama St., for a three-weekend run.

The production visits six Southern sisters who, over the course of an autumn weekend, seek to bridge the physical and emotional distance between them via the telephone, and in the process come to terms with their shattered family history.

Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets, $13 per senior, $15 for general admission, can be reserved by calling 317-926-3139 or visiting www.epilogueplayers.com. Tickets can be purchased at the door if available.
