The Greater Greenwood Community Band will hold a free Children’s Concert at the Surina Park Amphitheater in Greenwood on Sunday, Sept. 22, at 4 p.m. Children and adults can enjoy the musical line-up from Disney fan-favorites to classic cartoon melodies. A brief informational meeting with parents and daughters for a winter basketball league from December to early February will be at Beech Grove High School. On Friday, Sept. 27, Roncalli High School will hold its 50-year homecoming celebration. Game time is 7 p.m. as Roncalli’s football team plays Brebeuf Jesuit. At halftime, Roncalli’s 50th class and the 25th class will be recognized. Awards will be given for Alumni of the Year, Honorary Alumni and Spirit of Family. A unique form of Mexican wrestling known as Lucha Libre will be presented to the public in the atrium, Saturday, Sept. 28, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair Street. The Lucha Libro Festival features “freestyle wrestling” with colorful masks and high-flying wrestling maneuvers with rules like American matches. Lucha Libre dates to 1863 and developed from Greco-Roman wrestling. First of three matches begins at 11 a.m. After the final match, patrons may have their photos taken with a wrestler. The festival includes artists’ talks with Carlos Sosa, La Sardina Gallery founder Melt-Face, and El Camaron Electronico about the cultural significance of Lucha Libre at 3 p.m. A free screening of the PBS documentary film, “Tales of Masked Men – A Journey Through Lucha Libre,” will be at 4 p.m. in the auditorium. The Indianapolis Colts and the Gene B. Glick Company are out to kick food insecurity this season through a variety of ways, including the annual collection of canned goods before the Nov. 10 home game against the Miami Dolphins as part of the “Sacking Hunger” initiative. The Colts and Glick team members will combine efforts for the annual “Horseshoe Helpings” by distributing meals to more than 2,000 needy families. Also, Glick is donating $200 to Gleaners Food Bank for each field goal made by the Colts this season, providing 800 meals per field goal.
