Organizers of the second annual Hoosier Women in Art Exhibition at the Garfield Park Arts Center are looking for ladies to submit paintings, ceramics, textile arts and other medians that follow the show’s theme of modernity.
Two or three pieces of original art can be entered in the exhibit, which runs June 7-28.
Entries must be no larger than 4 by 5 feet for 2-D and 3 by 5 feet for 3-D. All works must be ready to hang or install.
Those planning to participate are asked to email [email protected] by May 3 or mail a portfolio to the center, 2432 Conservatory Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46227. Include name, address, phone number, email, a brief description of your work and a short bio. Also include samples of your work that you intend to exhibit.

Gold-diggers, schemers, gossips and social climbers – these are the women who populate “The Women,” a comedy that opens Friday at Buck Creek Playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Ave.
The classic 1936 play was written by Clare Boothe Luce and is widely known because of the 1939 MGM film of the same name starring Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Paulette Goddard and Marjorie Main of Acton, Ind. The hilarious movie and “cat fight” among its actresses made jungle red nail polish synonymous with sharp-clawed backstabbing.
 Curtain time is 8 p.m. March 21, 22, 28 and 29 and 2:30 p.m. March 23 and 30. Tickets, $14 for students and senior citizens (62 and older), $16 for adults, can be reserved by calling 862-2270 or visiting www.buckcreekplayers.com. The play contains adult situations and language.
