A native of Lacrosse, Wis., who resides in Indianapolis, Ezell first pursued a career in piano, but it was only after her children were in school that she became interested in painting.
Ezell, whose work is included in corporate and private collections in the United States, Denmark, Norway, England and Australia, is past president of the Indiana Artists Club and the Watercolor Society of Indiana.
She has retired from teaching at the Indianapolis Art Center but still instructs at her church, Old Bethel United Methodist. She was the director of the Arts & Crafts Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison for 17 years before it shuttered in 1995.
Always expanding her vision, Ezell is exploring new techniques on Yupo paper, with the goal of allowing viewers to become more involved in the painting.
An open house in her honor will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at the gallery, 299 E. Broadway St., Greenwood. Her work can be viewed from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesdays-Saturdays. Call 882-5562 to schedule an appointment out of those hours.
