Holiday Bazaar
The Fine Arts Department of Lutheran High School, 5555 S. Arlington Ave., will host its sixth annual Sugarplum Holiday Fair from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. About 40 vendors will sell their crafts and one-of-a-kind items. Info: www.lhsi.org.

Trash to Treasures Sale

Center United Methodist Church, 5545 Bluff Road, will host a trash to treasures sale from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 8 a.m.-noon Saturday.

Open House Nov. 8 at Roncalli

Roncalli will host an open house from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, for all prospective students in Grades 5-8 and their parents and siblings. All facets of school life at Roncalli will be on display. Guests will be able to tour the school and visit information booths on all academic, extracurricular and service organizations and have an opportunity to speak with students, teachers, coaches, club moderators and school administrators. Health Sciences Career Forum for Youths

Franciscan Health and Central Nine Career Center will host a health sciences career forum at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, at the hospital, 8111 S. Emerson Ave. (use Entrance 6). Open to middle and high school parents and their families, the program will feature career education and information booths, giveaways and refreshments. Call 317-528-8016 to register.

Workshop on Substance Abuse

A workshop on substance abuse awareness and education on how to recognize the signs of an opioid overdose and how to prevent one with Naloxone will be held from 9:30-12:30 p.m. Saturday at Hornet Park Community Center, 5245 Hornet Ave., Beech Grove. Narcan kits will be available for participants who go through the training. Registration is not required.

Self-defense Class for Children
Stranger Danger! a self-defense class for children ages 7 and up, will be offered from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at Hornet Park Community Center, 5245 Hornet Ave., Beech Grove. Children will learn techniques to identify and escape dangerous encounters. The cost $5; info or registration: 317-788-4986.

Concerts and Art Exhibit

The Crossroads Brass Band of Central Indiana is in concert at 7 p.m. today at Franklin College’s Custer Theatre, where a chamber concert will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5. Alumna Kelli DeMott Park will display her artwork from Nov. 5-21 at the Johnson Center for Fine Arts and will present a lecture, “Indiana Courthouses: All in the Details,” at 6 p.m. Nov. 5.  She teaches art at Franklin High School and was a finalist for Indiana Teacher of the Year in 2013. Art Exhibit Showcases Work of 50

Women “Together We Can,” an exhibit showcasing the works of 50 members of Women of Indianapolis Arts, will open at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2, at Schwitzer Gallery of the Circle City Industrial Complex, 1125 Brookside Ave. The group is dedicated to raising awareness about gender inequality in the arts as well as bringing together all women who contribute to the arts in Indianapolis. Halloween Concert
The Greater Greenwood Community Band will present a free Halloween concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood High School, 615 W. Smith Valley Road. Utilizing special effects and with the musicians and dancers in full costumes, the performance will feature a variety of haunting arrangements, including “Music for a Darkened Theater,” “Dr. Rockenstein,” “Jurassic Park” and others. Those attending are welcome to wear costumes.

Halloween Party
Greenwood Library, 310 S. Meridian St., is sponsoring a Halloween party from noon-3 p.m. Saturday. Events include trick-or-treating, crafts, a mad scientist lab for the children and Harry Potter movies. Costumes are encouraged for the free event, which doesn’t require registration.

Trunk-or-treating at State Fairgrounds

The 23rd trunk-or-treating event at the Indiana State Fairgrounds will be held from 5-7 Wednesday, Oct. 31. The program, open to children ages 12 and under who are accompanied by an adult, provides families a safe place to spend Halloween. Visitors are asked to enter through Gate 1 off 38th Street and follow the signs to Elements Financial Blue Ribbon Pavilion. Info: 317-927-7500.

Trunk-or-treating at Southport Park
Southport’s annual trunk or treat program will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Southport Park, 6901 Derbyshire Road. Children in costumes will receive candy and other treats.

Zombie Fest
The Edelweiss Restaurant at German Park, 8600 S. Meridian St., is hosting a zombie fest from 5-10 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature costume contests, face painting, children’s treat bags, a German buffet, German beer specials and live music from Polkamotion. The cost is $7.50 per preteen, $15 for all others. Info: 317-888-6940.

Hours for Trick-or-treating in Indianapolis
Trick-or-treat hours in Indianapolis will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. The Metropolitan Indianapolis Police Department will have extra patrols and enforcement in neighborhoods during those times. Children can receive treats from the South District Headquarters, 1150 Shelby St., from 3-7 p.m.

Haunted Conservatory
The Garfield Park Conservatory, 2505 Conservatory Drive, will be transformed into a haunted greenhouse from 5:30-8:30 p.m. today and Thursday. Admission is $2. 

Donate Blood and Get a T-shirt
People who donate blood to the Indiana Blood Center’s Greenwood branch, 879 S. U.S. 31, through Oct. 31 will get a “Starve a Vampire: Give Blood” T-shirt while supplies last. Donors must be in generally good health, at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent) and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds. Appointments can be made by calling 317916-5150.
