Summer is in full swing at Garfield Park, 2450 Shelby St., where the conservatory is teeming with activities.
Among the programs is Jungle Tales, a program that introduces 2- to 5-year-olds to nature through stories and crafts, will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesdays, June 14, July 12 and Aug. 12. Cost is $5, and registration is required.
Little Green Thumbs, a gardening initiative for 2- to 8-year-olds, will be held at 10 a.m. June 14, 23, July 7, 12 and 28. The cost is $5 per session. Call 327-7183 to register.
Guided tours of the conservatory are offered at 2:30 p.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. The $2 cost includes admission.
A program for young bird watchers will be held at 3 p.m. June 20. The fee is $5 and includes the child’s and an adult’s admission to the conservatory. Registration is required.
The park will showcase many of its activities during an open house June 25, when visitors can enjoy performances, sample classes and watch a movie from the lawn. Food vendors will be on hand.
