Southside youngsters Lincoln Kumar, left, and Mya Kumar try their skills at painting during the annual German Festival (Oktoberfest) Saturday at Garfield Park’s Sunken Gardens. The evening was fun for all ages with live music, German dance performances from die Fledermäuschen Tanzgruppe, art activities, games, German food, and beer. Garfield Brewery unveiled its traditional Oktoberfest brand. Patrons also enjoyed various foods, including bratwurst, knackwurst, frankfurters, vegetarian bratwurst, German potato salad, Gurkensalat, Zwetschgenkuchen and Donauwelle. There were several activities for children as some tried their skills for the first time with brush and paints. Oktoberfest is celebrated on the Southside at the Garfield Park Arts Center, Garfield Brewery, and the German American Klub with a German Biergarten. (SUBMITTED PHOTO)
