Georgeanna Teipen (left) and real-life daughter Miranda Nehrig star as a tough-talking mother (Anna Antonelli) and a shy daughter (Angel) in “The Rink,” opening Saturday for a three-weekend run at Buck Creek Playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Ave.
The musical is set in a sort of Coney Island of the mind, on the ragged fringe of the New York show-biz world. Antonelli’s roller rink is about to be demolished, and with it sour memories of her husband and daughter. The rink becomes an arena in which mother and daughter examine their past, present and future.
Curtain times are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 p.m. Sundays. Admission is $18 for children, students and senior citizens (62 and older), $20 for adults. Group discounts are also available for parties of 10 or more when purchased online. Reservations can be arranged by calling 317-862-2270 or visiting www.buckcreekplayers.com.
