Center United Methodist Church, 5445 Bluff Road, will host a fish fry from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The menu features fried or baked fish, tenderloins, chicken strips, hot dogs, fries, baked beans, slaw and homemade pies, cakes and cookies. Flag Retirement Ceremony
Southport’s annual flag retirement ceremony is at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 14, at 2110 E. Southport Road. The program includes a color guard, the armed forces medley of songs, taps and refreshments. Flags can be dropped off at the Southport Government Center, 6901 Derbyshire Road, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., or brought to the ceremony, where new one can be purchased. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs.
Fish Fry, Cruise-in
American Legion Post 355, 7610 S. Meridian St., is hosting a fish fry and cruise-in from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday. Proceeds will go toward the post’s Christmas fund for needy children.
Golf Outing Benefits Education Foundation
The Perry Township Education Foundation will host its annual golf outing at noon Thursday, June 14, at The Legends Golf Club in Franklin. The cost is $125 person, $500 per foursome and includes contests, drinks and dinner. Sponsorships are available, and a $500 donation will allow a foursome of district employees to play for free. It’s Easy to Discard Toxic Waste
The Indianapolis Department of Public Works will conduct a ToxDrop from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Perry Township Government Center, 4925 Shelby St. In addition, the refuse can be dropped off at 1725 S. West St. from 9-11 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Suitable materials include antifreeze, paint, brake fluid, batteries, drain and toilet bowl cleaners, fluorescent light bulbs, adhesives, pesticides, pool chemicals, thermometers and used motor oil.
Dinner Program for All Military Personnel
A free dinner program for all military members and their families will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Christ Our Shepherd Church of the Brethren, 857 N. State Road 135, Greenwood. Loren Minnix will speak about the Post Traumatic Growth Institute, which works with military personnel suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
Ave Maria Guild’s Luncheon Meeting
The Ave Maria Guild of St. Paul Hermitage will meet at noon Tuesday, June 12, and host a Hawaiian-style pitch-in luncheon (main dish will be supplied) before the meeting. Those attending are asked to bring canned goods for the poor.
