A get-together for all veterans, particularly those who have served in the military since 1990, will get underway at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Greenwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5864, 333 S. Washington St., where hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, slaw, chips and beer will be served.

The musical entertainment will come from “Super” Dave Everett, a disc jockey who served in the Air Force at Prince Sultan Air Base in Al Kharj, Saudi Arabia, during Desert Storm.

Serving as co-chairs are Army veterans George and Connie Wallace, who say donations will be accepted to help fund the event. George served in Kuwait and Iraq and is a chief warrant officer three; Connie is a retired staff sergeant who served in Saudi Arabia.

In addition, the sixth annual National Guard Association Ride for Professional will leave the post at 2:30 p.m. to take a lap around I-465 before cruising Monument Circle and returning to the post. Indiana Adjutant Gen. and Maj. Gen. Corey Carr will lead the cruise.

The cost is $25 for a single rider, $35 for a couple. Riders can register in advance at www.ngai.net. Info: John Pitt at 677-6189.
