The epic struggle between good and evil will come to life when Footlite Musicals opens its 61st season Friday with “Jekyll & Hyde, the Musical.”

With Dr. Henry Jekyll on the brink of discovering the key to man’s inner reality, he experiments on himself and finds his formula works. Unfortunately, his “real” self turns out to be the monster Edward Hyde. The theater’s troupe of 18- to 25-year-olds will star in the production.

The theater’s youth group of 13- to 18-year-olds will present “Jesus Christ Superstar,” which opens Aug. 19. The most famous rock opera of all time, the musical is loosely based on the Gospel’s account of the last week in the life of Jesus.

Individual ($15 and $23) and season tickets ($100) are available by calling 926-6630 or visiting www.footlite.org. All shows are staged at Hedback Community Theatre, 1847 N. Alabama St., where curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2:30 Sunday.
