Break out the recipes, gather the ingredients and roll out the dough. It’s time to start baking cookies for Franklin’s 10th annual cookie contest, which will be held Saturday at Mutual Savings Bank, 80 E. Jefferson St.
The contest will be divided into divisions for children ages 12 and under, teens 13 to 17 and adults 18 and older. Entries will be accepted from 3-4 p.m.
Purdue Extension Services of Johnson County will judge the cookies, and the winner in each division will be presented $50.
Ribbons will be awarded in each division in various categories, including presentation, originality.
The event will also feature Mrs. Claus telling stories from 4:30-5 p.m., the Christmas lighting parade at 5:30 p.m. and a craft program at 7 p.m., at which time all the cookies will be displayed.
