Following the opening ceremonies at 11:30 a.m., the Terre Haute Community Band will take the stage at noon. Also performing are bands from Zionsville and Bloomington, the Crossroads Brass Band and the Indianapolis Symphonic Band. The Greater Greeenwood Community Band will perform at 5 p.m.
To close the show, members from several of the bands will join forces to form to the “Mass Band” for a rousing rendition of “Stars & Stripes Forever.”
The special guest conductor for the finale will be Herman Knoll, former Greenwood High School band director and retired vice president of Hal Leonard Corp., which is one of the largest sheet music publishing companies in the world.
Knoll, who now resides in Wisconsin, continues to remain active in Bands of America and other nonprofits committed to helping music educators.
The park is located just south of Main and Meridian streets in Greenwood and behind the fire station. Info: http://greenwoodband.org/.
