Those words were written by Amanda Clark, the 30-year-old wife of Joe Clark, who’s battling Stage IV colon cancer while adjusting to parenthood with his 4-month-old daughter, Gira.
Mrs. Clark, a 2002 graduate of Roncalli, captures her family’s ups and downs of dealing with cancer on her blog at www.cocktailsandchemo.com, which is read by more than 45,000 people from across the country.
Her blog will take on a more personal touch when the second annual Cocktails & Chemo Fundraiser for her family is hosted by Jimmy “Mad Dog” Matis from 5-11 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the St. Roch Parish Life Center, 3603 S. Meridian St.
In addition to music from the 3rd Generation band and other musicians, the event will feature samples from area restaurants, a silent auction and other activities.
Tickets, $50 per person or $90 per couple, can be purchased at the door or by calling Susie Salaz at 1-831-869-0391. People who would like to donate items for the auction should call Tracy Jourdan at 919-7345.
