The South Central Indiana Corvette Club will host its annual Corvette show Saturday, Aug. 12, at Hubler Chevrolet, 8220 S. U.S. 31. Registration runs from 9 a.m.-noon, and the first 100 cars will receive commemorative dash plaques. Proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Fish Fry and Trivia Contest
Greenwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5864, 333 S. Washington St., will host a fish fry for families from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door. The meal includes two sides. Karaoke will begin at 8 p.m. The post will hold a trivia contest at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19. Teams of four will compete for prizes. The cost is $2 per person. Info: 317-888-2488.
Free Health Fair Saturday
Eskenazi Health will host a free health fair from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at its Westside facility, 5515 W. 38th St., where screenings for blood pressure, BMI, diabetes, vision, oral health, etc. will be available, as will sports physicals for 10- to 21-year-olds. There will also be information on topics like mental, women’s and adolescent health, insurance, CPR training, nutrition and health insurance enrollment. All guests will be eligible for door prizes and giveaways.
Blood Drive Friday
Franciscan Health, 8111 S. Emerson Ave., will host a blood drive from 7 a.m.-noon and 4-8 p.m. Friday in its Terrace Conference Room. Donors, who must be in generally good health, at least 17 years old (16 with parental consent) and weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, should expect the process to take about an hour. Registration is requested at www.DonorPoint.org but not required. Park in Zone 1 and go to the second floor.
Half-price Admission to State Fair
The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles will offer half-price admission to the Indiana State Fair on Thursday, Aug. 10. Discount tickets for $6 can be printed when visiting myBMV.com. The first 100 motorcyclists who enter the fairgrounds through Gate 6 on Friday, Aug. 11, can park for free along Main Street.
Guild Is Planning Rummage Sale
The Ave Maria Guild will meet at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at St. Paul Hermitage to plan its rummage sale Friday, Aug. 25.
Volunteers Needed for Youth Run
The 500 Festival is seeking volunteers to help coordinate its youth run Sunday, Sept. 17, at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Volunteers will receive commemorative T-shirts and pins, complimentary meals, snacks and refreshments and a tour of the track. The run, open to children ages 5-12, will feature race distances from .5 to 2.5 miles. Info: www.500festival.com/volunteer.
