Flag Retirement Ceremony
Southport will host its annual flag retirement ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at Southport Park, 6900 Derbyshire Road. The program will feature a color guard, a barbershop quartet, an armed forces parade, the recognition of veterans, refreshments and the playing of taps. People who have worn-out flags may bring them for proper retirement. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs.
Free Movie, Vintage Airplane Show
Indy South Greenwood Airport, 897 Airport Parkway, will show Disney’s “Tail Spin” at 7 p.m. Saturday on the big screen in one of its hangars. Those attending are asked to bring blankets or lounge chairs to enjoy the free movie. Food and drink will be available for purchase, and planes will be on display. The rain date is June 11. Vintage warbirds, including a B-17 bomber and a PT-26, will be displayed at the airport June 12-15. Guests will see how America trained for World War II and how everyday people became pilots. St. Mark Funfest
St. Mark Catholic Church, 535 E. Edgewood Ave., will host its annual Funfest Thursday-Saturday. The fun gets underway at 5 p.m. daily with food – fried chicken, barbecue and fair-style goodies – inflatables and games. The Crossroads Brass Band and Ray and Friends will perform from 7-10 p.m. Thursday, Five Steps to Wampler from 8-11 p.m. Friday and the 3rd Generation from 8-11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Classic Film Series Continues With ‘Singin’ in the Rain’
Film historian Eric Grayson will screen the 1952 classic “Singin’ in the Rain” with Gene Kelly, Donald O’Connor and Debbie Reynolds at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Garfield Park Arts Center, 2450 Shelby St. The movie features some of the best dance numbers ever put on film, Grayson said. Ave Maria Guild Hosting Pitch-in Luncheon
The Ave Maria Guild of St. Paul Hermitage will host a pitch-in luncheon (meat provided) for its members and their guests at noon Tuesday, June 13. Those attending are asked to wear their best bargain outfit for the fashion show. Nonperishable snacks will be collected for children of Beech Grove.
