Emmaus Lutheran Church, 1224 Laurel St. in Fountain Square, will host a rummage sale from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. The sale will feature a lot of furniture and miscellaneous items but no clothes.
Easter Egg Hunt
The city of Southport’s annual Easter egg hunt will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at One Christian Church, 2901 E. Banta Road. Children of all ages are welcome to bring their baskets and join in the fun.
Good Friday, Easter Services, Egg Hunt
St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 3932 MiCasa Ave., will hold a Good Friday service at noon March 30 and an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 31, for children up to age 12. The Easter Sunday service is at 9:30 a.m. April 1.
Gardening Program at Bethany Lutheran Church
A series a gardening workshops at Bethany Lutheran Church, 4702 S. East St., continues with a community meal at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 27. Subsequent classes are April 10 and 24 and May 1 and 22. There will be individual plots and community garden space available. Since the area is not supported by an active neighborhood association, the workshops in April will also focus on concerns of residents. College Scholarships Available
The Sertoma Club of Greenwood will award four $2,000 one-year scholarships to college-bound seniors from Center Grove, Greenwood, Perry Meridian, Southport and Whiteland. Because the club’s primary focus is helping those with hearing and speech disorders, one of the scholarships will be awarded to a student who is hearing impaired or intends to major in an area related to speech and hearing.
Good Friday Fish Fry
Boy Scout Troop 51 is hosting a fish fry from 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 30, at St. Jude School, 5353 McFarland Road. A one-piece meal, served with a side dish, a beverage and dessert, costs $7; a two-piece meal is $9. Cheese pizza and grilled cheese sandwiches will also be available.
Support for Grieving Youngsters
Caterpillar Kids, a free support program that provides learning experiences for children ages 5 to 12 who’ve experienced the death of a loved one, will be offered by Franciscan Health Hospice from 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesdays, April 4-25, at Christ United Methodist Church, 8540 S. U.S. 31. A teen grief support group also will meet separately at the same time. Youngsters participate in storytelling, art projects, games and other sharing opportunities.
