Toys, Money Needed for Christmas Program
Cardwell Do-it Best Home Center, 3205 Madison Ave., needs toys and monetary donations to ensure that its annual Operation Christmas Joy is a success. Every child who visits Santa at the center will receive a gift and a candy cane with a special Christmas message. Donations can be dropped off during regular business hours.  

Booth Space Available
Booth space is available for St. Mark’s holiday craft fair, which will be held from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, in the school gym, 535 E. Edgewood Ave. Info: 317-786-4013.

Concord Center Turning 142
Concord Neighborhood Center, 1310 S. Meridian St., will observe 142 years of service to the community Saturday, Oct. 28. The birthday celebration gets underway at 6 p.m. and will feature a cash bar, dinner, a cheesecake buffet, raffles, a silent auction and a dance. Car Show Will Benefit Shop With Cop Program
A car show to benefit the Southport Police Department’s Shop With a Cop program will be held Saturday at Christy’s of Indiana, 6851 Madison Ave. Registration – the fee is $15 – runs from 10:30 a.m.-noon, and awards will be presented in more than 10 divisions at 3 p.m. There will also be a hog roast, hamburgers, hot dogs, raffles and door prizes. The event is being held in memory of fallen Southport Lt. Aaron Allan. Info: Jim Stafford at 317-946-3686. 

Activities for Children and Adults
The Garfield Park Conservatory, 2450 Shelby St., is teeming with children’s activities, including Jungle Tales, Creepy Creatures, herbal craft programs, pumpkin-palooza and a haunted house. Adults can enjoy a bonsai workshop and a photo exhibit. Visit www. garfieldgarden

Authors Fair Expected to Attract Many Writers
Dozens of authors are expected to attend Greenwood Library’s authors fair from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at 310 S. Meridian St. In addition to the opportunity to speak with writers, the fair will give aspiring writers the chance to learn about local writing organizations. Info: 317-885-5036 ext. 1206. 

International Film Festival
At Home in Johnson County and The Historic Artcraft Theatre, 57 N. Main St., Franklin, are offering a free international film series that celebrates the county’s rich cultures. The films are “Like Water for Chocolate” (focusing on Mexico), Oct. 10; “Ponyo” (Japan) Oct. 17, which is family night; and “Bride and Prejudice” (India) Oct. 24. Choir Looking for Singers

Free Health Fair

Eskenazi Health North, 2505 N. Arlington Ave., is hosting a free health fair from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature screenings for blood pressure, oral health, diabetes and body mass index, a limited number of flu shots, giveaways and door prizes. Authors Will Be at Library
Meet an Author, Be an Author at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair St., on Saturday will provide the public the opportunity to purchase books, participate in book signings and take part in workshops and one-on-one conversations with accomplished Indiana authors.
