School Will Host Open House, Registration
Southport Presbyterian Christian School, 7525 McFarland Blvd., will hold an open house for prospective kindergartners at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2. Registration for 2-year-olds through fifth-graders begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, with an open house at 6 p.m. that evening. Info or to schedule a tour: myspcs.org or 317-534-2929.

Prime Rib Dinner and Dance

Greenwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5864, 333 S. Washington St., will host a valentine’s dinner and dance Friday, Feb. 10. Dinner, featuring prime rib, a baked potato, green beans, a salad and a roll, will be served at 6 p.m., with musical entertainment by The Luke Carol Project Beginning at 8 p.m. The cost is $20 person, and there will be 50-50 drawings and door prizes. Tickets are available at the post after 2 p.m. Monday-Saturday. Info: 888-2488.

Homecoming Basketball Games at Manual 

Manual High School will host its homecoming basketball games Friday, with the junior varsity and varsity teams facing Howe at 6 and 7:30 p.m., respectively. Alumni members will be treated to free admission and food. Info: 317-250-6651.
 
Church Serves Free Lunches  
University Heights United Methodist Church, 4002 Otterbein Ave., adjacent to the University of Indianapolis, will serve free lunches from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday. 

Free Meals, Clothing and Hygiene Items
Free hot meals, clothing and hygiene items will be available from noon-2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary United Methodist Church, 725 S. State St.

Board of Education Meetings, Work Sessions
The Perry Township Board of Education meets at 6:30 p.m. the second Monday of each month (except for the first Monday in October) at the Perry Township Education Center, 6548 Orinoco Ave. Public work sessions are held at 6 p.m. the fourth Monday of each month (except for March, May, July and December).  

Toastmasters Meet
The Vineyard Toastmasters Club meets from 7 p.m. every Monday at the Perry Township Government Center, 4925 Shelby St., where members can gain confidence and leadership skills by improving their communication and listening techniques. Visitors are welcome. Info: email marlina.schmid@gmail.com.

Feedback Wanted on Land Use 
The Department of Metropolitan Development is updating the Marion County Land Use Plan and is seeking public feedback through a series of community listening sessions, which are listed at www.plan2020.com/landuse. The plan is required by state statute as a basis for zoning. It will provide guidance to those interested in developing in Indianapolis by recommending how land should be used throughout the county.

Leadership Forums

Applications for the Leadership Johnson County Class of 2018 are being accepted through March 15. The program offers one-day forums designed to train and strengthen leaders. Info: www.leadershipjohnson

Music Collectors Show and Sale

Featuring out-of-print and hard-to-find records, compact discs, DVDs, tapes, etc., a music show and sale will be held from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at La Quinta Inn & Suites, 5120 Victory Drive, just east of I-465 and Emerson Avenue. Singing Valentines Available
The Chordlighter Barbershop Chorus will deliver singing valentine greetings Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 13 and 14. Packages include a rose(s), a special card, a box of candy and a photo. In addition, greetings may be ordered for delivery within the continental United States and Canada via the telephone between 6 and 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13.
