Greenwood Community Center Will Reopen
Closed for several months due to a top-to-bottom makeover, the Greenwood Community Center will celebrate its grand reopening Saturday. The improvements include an area devoted entirely to children, a climbing sculpture for youths, an enlarged workout area featuring the latest in cardio and weightlifting equipment, separate areas for fitness classes and three rooms that can be rented for various events. The center is located at 100 Surina Way, just south of Main and Meridian streets and behind the fire station 

Only One Library Branch Open on Dr. MLK Day

With the exception of InfoZone (open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.) in The Children’s Museum, 3000 N. Meridian St., all Indianapolis Public Library locations will be closed Monday, Jan. 16, in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

License Branches Closed Jan. 14-16

All Bureau of Motor Vehicle license branches will be closed Saturday, Jan. 14, through Monday, Jan. 16, in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

Record Bash This Weekend

The 31st annual Indy Record Bash is Friday and Saturday at the Waterfront Clarion Hotel & Conference Center, 2930 Waterfront Parkway West Drive. The event will feature the sale of records, compact discs, books, posters, sheet music, instruments, photographs and possibly some commemorative T-shirts. There will also be trivia quizzes and jam sessions. The International Association of Jazz Record Collectors will meet Saturday morning.  New Adoption Hours at Animal Care Services

Indianapolis Animal Care Services, 2600 Harding St., has established new hours during which animals can be adopted: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday, closed Wednesday. Intake hours are 10 a.m.-5 Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday. In addition, a stray cat diversion program is being implemented. Expanding the foster program and rescue efforts to reduce the population of animals at the shelter are also priorities. Info: 317-327-1397. 

Chili Bowl Nationals This Weekend
Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing Development will compete in the 31st annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals this weekend in Tulsa, Okla. The team will be represented by Kyle O’Gara in his No. 67 car and Tyler Seavey in the No. 68.

Indianapolis Home Show
Opening Friday, Jan. 20, for a 10-day run at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, the 95th Indianapolis Home Show will feature thousands of decorating, construction, remodeling and landscaping ideas. The centerpiece home, a decorated and landscaped home built entirely inside Expo Hall, will showcase the most current and exciting trends in architecture and style.
