SUBMITED PHOTOS Dr. Alice Harpel, known for her impressionistic landscapes and still life subjects in oil and acrylic, will display and sell her artwork April 4-28 at the Southside Art League. Harpel’s lifelong passion is art, and growing up in the country provided many hours of enjoying art. She still experiences the same fun and pleasure from painting. Her artworks feature vibrant colors and traditional uncomplicated imagery of local scenery, parks and farmers markets. She said she seeks to capture the beauty in unusual places. Viewers often comment that her paintings make them feel happy, and that is what keeps her motivated to create. A resident of Crawfordsville, she has degrees from the University of Dayton, Purdue and Nova Southeastern University. A reception in her honor will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 13, at the gallery, 299 E. Broadway St., where regular hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Info: 317-882-5562.
