Film historian, collector and preservationist and Eric Grayson will host “Dixiana,” a 1930 movie that stars Bebe Daniels and comedians Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey, at 8 p.m. Saturday, at the Garfield Park Arts Center, 2450 Shelby St.
Dixiana (Daniels) is wooed by two suitors (Wheeler and Woolsey) in this musical comedy set in the South after the Civil War.
Wheeler and Woolsey were, in their day, at least as popular as The Marx Brothers, said Grayson, who added that “Dixiana probably one of their most popular films.
The movie features some rare two-color Technicolor scenes that have only been rediscovered in the past few years.
