Ladies Luncheon, Silent Auction

Turkey Burn
The sixth annual Turkey Burn on Thanksgiving Day will feature 1.5-mile and 5 and 10K runs at Craig Park, 10 E. Smith Valley Road, Greenwood. The event is in memory of Jamie Sue Ramey, who died of cancer in 2012. All proceeds will be used to offset the educational expenses of her four sons. Christmas Portraits Available
A variety of portrait packages, including those with Christmas and traditional scenes, will be available when Boy Scout Troop 96 holds photo sessions from 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Saturday at Edgewood United Methodist Church, 1820 E. Artisan Holiday Market
Artists and craftsmen from throughout the Midwest will display their wares when Delta Theta Tau chapter of Nu Tau holds its 41st annual Artisan Holiday Market from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Beech Grove High School, 5330 Hornet Ave. Proceeds will benefit the group’s philanthropic work, for which it is well-known. Holiday Bazaar

Coping With the Holidays
A free program on how to get through the holidays will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, and Thursday, Dec. 15, at New Day Counseling and Education Services, 494 S. Dogs, Cats Can Be Adopted for $15
Because it’s operating at capacity, Indianapolis Animal Care Services, 2600 S. Harding St., is running a $15 adoption special on all cats and dogs this month. Each animal is spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. For people unable to adopt, foster programs are available. Screening and Discussion About End-of-life Care
A screening of the PBS documentary “Being Mortal” and a discussion with health-care professionals about the shared responsibilities of end-of-life care will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Community Hospital South, 1402 E. County Line Road. The documentary explores the hopes of patients and families facing terminal illness and their relationships with the physicians who treat them.
Council on Aging Will Meet
The Johnson County Council on Aging will hold a strategic planning meeting from 2-4 Tuesday, Nov. 15, at Greenwood Village South’s main building, 295 Village Lane, off Madison Avenue and south of Main Street. The council welcomes input on how it can provide more services to area seniors, including those in southern Marion County.
Packing Meals for the Hungry

It’s National Novel Writing Month
As part of November being National Novel Writing Month, Greenwood Library, 310 S. Meridian St., is hosting a creative writing project in which it is trying to get people of all ages to write a 50,000-word novel. Workshops to help with the writing process will be held from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays throughout the month. License Branches Closed on Veterans Day
Bureau of Motor Vehicles license branches will be closed Friday in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. Regular hours will resume Saturday.
