Film historian Eric Grayson will screen the 1956 film “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” when the vintage movie program at the Garfield Park Arts Center, 2450 Shelby St., continues at 8 p.m. Saturday. Returning from a trip, a doctor finds that the small community he lives in isn't quite right. People complain that others are impostors and mysterious seed pods are found that grow human duplicates. What could be happening? The film stars Kevin McCarthy and Dana Wynter. According to Grayson, director Don Siegel’s classic film was an echo of the frights of the times and a new way to sneak in some social commentary without anyone noticing. Admission is $5; concessions are $1. Visit www.gpacarts.org for more information. |
