Ami Jackson, who had just graduated from Southport High School, excelled in the discus throw at the Women’s Prep Classic in Portland, Ore. Jackson was undefeated in the discus in dual meets while at Southport, was a four-time Marion County champ and earned All-American honors as a senior.

After 46 years of driving a bus for Perry Township Schools, Bob Koch called it quits. His service dated back to the time when drivers owned their buses and contracted themselves to the district. His wife, Georgia, drove a bus for 20 years before retiring in 1992.

Betty Davis, who founded the Greenwood Senior Citizens Center in 1979 and served as its executive director from the outset, was retiring. From its humble beginning with only 12 members, the organization had grown to include more than 500 seniors.
