SUBMITTED PHOTO Southport’s newspaper, The Journal, won awards at the state and national high school journalism conventions. Last year’s Journal was named an honorable mention Hoosier Star winner at the state convention, placing it among the top six large school newspapers in Indiana. At the national convention five staff members won awards. Drew Tapp (second from left) won an Excellent Award in the press law and ethics contest.
