 (SUBMITTED PHOTO) The student council at Rosa Parks Elementary School recently honored Perry Township and Indianapolis metropolitan Police Department first responders at a Cookies for Courage event. Fifth-grade students, from left, Makinzee McKinney, Ella Mennell, Reece Estice, and Madison Jordon get acquainted with K-9 officer “Moses,” who is enjoying a belly rub. The first responders enjoyed donuts, cookies, coffee and orange juice.

 (SUBMITTED PHOTOS) The Southport High School Alumni Association recently presented 69 scholarships totaling $74,200 to deserving seniors. In top photo, SHS senior Samuel Graphman receives the James Wilson memorial scholarship from Katy Allman. In left photo, Sebastian Perez-Sandoval, left, accepts the Bowles/Watson families scholarship from Kay Watson. Funds for the scholarships are donated by alumni and their families. Recipients and their guests will be honored at a banquet to be held at the SHS Fieldhouse on May 20.  |
