Bethany Community Gardens volunteers honored Ginny Roberts of Purdue Extension-Marion County after her 20 years of service in agriculture and natural resources. She served as a specialist at many schools and community organizations as they began gardens and also offered gardening programming. Roberts was honored during an end-of-season luncheon at Bethany Lutheran Church, 4702 S. East St. The celebration cake reads: “You changed the landscape and heart of Indianapolis.”

The competition was fierce as students competed in front of police and Indianapolis Fire Department firefighters in the third annual bike race. Perry Township School Police were on hand to cheer the tiny racers, and Indianapolis Fire Department were there to teach students about fire safety. |
