“I was completely overwhelmed with joy,” said Brewington, who was nominated by numerous teachers and students at South Grove Intermediate. Those comments included: “Mrs. Brewington is kind and helpful. She has a big heart. She always smiles. She helps everybody who needs help. She works very hard. She appreciates students.”
“Kelly Services and Beech Grove Schools have provided me with the best job ever,” Brewington said. “Going to school is a joy for me, and my days at South Grove are so enjoyable that my work never feels like a job.”
A Beech Grove High School graduate – as are her two sons – she was recognized at the April 14 board of education meeting by Superintendent Paul Kaiser and South Grove Assistant Principal Jina Hackman, She was presented with the Something Extra Award for her dedication and commitment to the staff, students and community.
The award contains the following quote, “The high road to service is traveled with integrity, compassion and understanding ... kids do not care how much we know until they know how much we care," which peers say exemplifies Brewington.
