Students at Southport Elementary School began spinning their wheels recently for a good cause. In partnership with IU Simon Cancer Research Center, students are raising awareness for multiple myeloma, a rare cancer. Third-grade students hosted a stationary spin bike-a-thon and invited the public to donate $1 per minute for a spin on the bike. The event was the pinnacle of the class’s Project Based Learning (PBL) initiative which allows students to research and work toward solving a real-world problem. |
