SUBMITTED PHOTO Abby Wulf, a fourth-grader at Central Catholic School and the daughter of Patty and Bryan Wulf, won first place in the 500 Festival & Indianapolis 500 Education Program’s essay contest. She and about 1,000 other contestants from across the state were asked what it would be like to ride along with the honorary pace car driver for the parade laps. As part of the contest, Abby and her classmates learned about the history and traditions of the race in their social studies class. Abby’s prize package – a plaque and four tickets to the 500 Festival Parade and the Indy 500 – was delivered to the school May 13 in an official pace car, the Corvette ZO6. Her teacher, Julie Bauman, received two tickets to the parade.
