Educate Beyond All Barriers will host fundraiser

8/27/2014

A fundraiser for Educate Beyond All Barriers, one of the few organizations in Indianapolis that helps teenagers and adults earn their GEDs, learn computer skills and receive help in improving their literacy skills, will be held Sept. 24.
Annette Johnson of the Center for Leadership Development will be the guest speaker for the event, which will start at 6 p.m. at the Jewel Center, 3333 N. Illinois St.
Because Educate Beyond All Barriers provides free services to poverty-stricken individuals and the homeless, the organization says it offers critical services, especially when considering the current median per capita income in Indianapolis is $24,430.
As a result, an estimated 18.9 percent of the population lives below the poverty level, reports the agency, which added that, nationally, 14.3 percent live below the poverty level.
Proceeds from the fundraiser, which will feature saxophonist Greg Bacon and a silent auction, will help cover costs of operating the program.
Tickets are $35. Call 226-9675 or www.educate
bab.org for more information or to purchase tickets.
