With a GPA of 4.56, Buckner ranks No. 1 in her class of 444. Her family, peers and teachers know her as a remarkable young lady who excels at all facets of life.
A strong, charismatic leader in and out of the classroom, Bucker is an accomplished triathlete and scholar who will study biology at the University of Arizona, where she will continue to participate in sports. She is the captain of Southport’s swimming, cross country and track teams.
Bucker, daughter of Becky Brehob and Joe Bucker, received the Advanced Placement Scholar with Honors Award and has maintained an A honor roll status. She is the president of the school’s National Honor Society chapter and worked on the school newspaper. Her volunteer service includes working with disabled children and on community projects.
Boyer, who earned a 4.53 GPA, said she has always had a love for learning and philanthropic endeavors. Her leadership abilities are demonstrated in everything she has done, from academics to athletics and church.
She has helped lead the Riley Dance Marathon at Southport since 2012, raising more than $100,000, including $50,000 this year.
Boyer, daughter of James and Candy Boyer, is the design editor of the school’s yearbook and won the Spread of the Year Award her junior year. She is often seen taking pictures and gathering information at games, club activities and other events. She has earned multiple awards for her academic and swimming endeavors.
Both young scholars achieved their many accolades while maintaining part-time employment.
