Fikes will have completed 38 credits in honors level coursework when graduating, with 21 of them being Advance Placement. She is a member of the National Honor Society and an AP scholar with distinction.
She was the first student in Roncalli’s 47-year history to earn a perfect composite score on the ACT. Fikes was a member of the Physics and Robotics clubs and mock trial team. She volunteers weekly at Agape Therapeutic Riding Center, assisting with riding lessons for children with disabilities.
Fikes, who plans to major in engineering in college, is waiting for admissions decisions from Washington University in St. Louis and Vanderbilt University. She is the daughter of Ken and Laura Fikes.
Barron challenged herself by taking 10 AP courses and 19 semesters of honors or accelerated classes and earned A’s in every course. She has been recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar, an AP Honor Scholar and Student of the Year. Barron was the captain of the cross country team for three years and the swim team captain one year. She assisted with costume creation, alterations and repairs for school musicals the last two years.
Barron, daughter of Drs. Michael and Beth Barron, plans to major in chemistry with the intention of entering the medical, public health or research field. She has not decided on a university but has narrowed her options to North Carolina, Pennsylvania or Indiana.
