SUBMITTED PHOTO Holocaust survior Eva Kor, a forgiveness advocate, a champion of human rights and a tireless educator, brought her powerful story to Roncalli Aug. 31. Kor and her twin, Miriam, were born in 1934 in the village of Portz, Romania. In 1944 the family was packed into a cattle car and transported to the Auschwitz death camp. The twins became part of a group of children used as human guinea pigs in genetic experiments under the direction of Dr. Josef Mengele. The Soviet army, at the liberation of the camp Jan. 27, 1945, found approximately 200 children alive. Kor’s message of a will to live, followed later in life by a will to forgive, was inspiring to all. She is seen with (from left) Audrey Troxell, Joe Madden and Micah Attai.
