Lutheran seniors Jared Chandler (third from left) and Matt Fox (fourth from right) were among five Marion County high school basketball players who received $1,000 Downtown Indianapolis Kiwanis-NextGear Academic All-Star Scholarships March 25. The scholarships – awarded to the players who maintained the highest GPA, were presented at the 70th annual state finals luncheon.
Other recipients were John William Dean (fourth from left) of North Central, Ian Deiters (center) of Ben Davis and Isaac Vaught (third from right) of Shortridge.
Officials who participated in the luncheon included (from left) Kiwanis President-elect Greg Fennig, Gov. Mike Pence, NextGear Capital CFO David Horan and Bill Benner of Pacers Sports & Entertainment.
