SUBMITTED PHOTO Athletes from Beech Grove High School recently canoed along Sugar Creek with athletic director Matt English, Beech Grove Middle School Assistant Principal Ryan Morgan and five members of the National Guard. In addition to canoeing 12 miles down the creek, which meanders through Turkey Run State Park, the outdoorsmen went swimming and had MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) for lunch. MREs are what troops eat when they are deployed. The canoeists are (in no particular order) Ethan Smiley, Brent Strahla, Kody Conaway, Cameron Cardenas, Michelle Jennings, Sam Elliott, Josh Wofford, Walter Ballinger, Reecie Gilliam, Abbie Myers, Andrea Stevens, Dustin Fultz and Jake Weller.
