Monroe collected 3,480 cans, nearly 10 percent of the total.
Students and staff also raised $11,804, which will be used to purchase food for area pantries. A blood drive held in conjunction with the food drive netted 104 pints.
Now in its 47th year, the event has raised more than 3 million cans for the needy.
