A 1970 graduate, Warner has been employed by Perry Township Schools since 1990 and at Southport since 1997, first as a receptionist and then as secretary of the athletic department, a position she still holds.
Throughout the years Warner was active in PTA, serving as president and treasurer while chairing fundraisers and producing school yearbooks among other things. In 2007 she was named the township’s Support Staffer of the Year.
As is often the case, her workday includes tasks outside the scope of her job description. She is responsible for ensuring that food and beverages are available at the Cardinals Nest before games and other events.
She designed and created the tile Cardinal head displayed outside the Nest, and she designs athletic program books and hallway showcases and collects memorabilia for the Indiana All-Stars’ case in Southport Fieldhouse.
Warner is viewed as an asset to the school and a perfect example of someone who continually gives back to her alma mater.
Her ties to the school are many: her husband, Tom, graduated from there in 1969, and her children, Amy, Ben and Paul, are also alumni.
Warner will be honored during the association’s scholarship banquet May 20 at the University of Indianapolis.
