(SUBMITTED PHOTO) South Grove Intermediate School held its annual “Family Fun Night” recently with a variety of activities. Reading activities for students was promoted with a poster contest of their favorite book. First place went to Kyrstin Farr, “I Survived the Shark Attack of 1916,’. The night was sponsored by the Beech Grove Education Foundation that provided free A.P. books and flash cards for students. Special personnel included Beech Grove police and fire department personnel; Beech Grove public library branch; Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts; Boys and Girls clubs; and The Southsider Voice columnist Fred Shonk and therapy dog Stuart.

Keira Roberson, 8. a third-grader at Homecroft Elementary School, was chosen as a
recipient of a college savings account worth $529 from CollegeChoice CD 529 Savings Plan as part of her participation in The Indianapolis Public Library’s 2019 Summer Reading Program. Keira was joined at an award ceremony recently at Central Library by Marissa Rowe of the Indiana Education Savings Authority, left, and Regina Carmon of College Savings Bank. The Library’s 100th Summer Reading Program attracted approximately 46,000 children and families who read approximately 860,000 books during the eight-week period. |
