“We will have a very young team,” coach Lois Speziale said. “Our upperclassmen will have to lead by example and help bring our younger players along.”
The 3A Hornets had an impressive .350 team batting average last year, averaging 5.6 runs, but they allowed 8.0 runs per game.
Speziale said she believes pitching will improve with junior Shelbi Ledgerwood, sophomore Mallory Storms and freshman Kayla Woodruff, who is returning to the mound for the first time since sixth grade.
Outfielder Kaylee Kingston and second baseman Taylor Harmon, both newcomers, should have an impact.
