It was a big night for young football fans at Roncalli Stadium on Friday as the South Deanery hosted its annual Catholic Youth Organization night in conjunction with the Roncalli-Scecina game.
Grade school cheerleaders were encouraged to give their best yells; football players in Grades 3 through 8 were introduced during halftime; and band members were persuaded to play along with Roncalli’s band.
The Rebels did their part in making it a memorable evening by defeating Scecina 41-7.
The CYO program is known for playing an instrumental role in developing quality athletes. Spirituality and Christian values are emphasized by the coaches as a way to foster personal development on and off the field.
