When Villanova thumped Michigan 79-62 Monday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio to win its second NCAA championship in three years, it signaled the of The Southsider Voice’s annual Basketball Blitz, which paired teams in the tourney with advertisers.
The Wildcats (36-4) breezed through the competition, defeating all of its opponents by double digits. Their win entitles John Walke Garage Doors to free quarter-page ad valued at $390.
The Wolverines (33-8) were paired with ASAP Payroll Service, which won an eighth-page worth $210.
Cardinal Insurance Services and Sleepy Hollow Pet Ranch, paired with Loyola-Chicago and Kansas, respectively, also won eighth-page ads.
Brian Patton won a $25 gift card in the The Voice’s March Madness trivia contest, and Marie Marcum won an Irish-themed gift basket for winning the St. Patrick’s Day trivia contest.
