By Doug Clements Pro Motion Photos One thing is certain against a familiar opponent – they know your plays and you know theirs. Whomever makes the most plays, usually wins. This was on display Friday as Whiteland went to Franklin for a rematch and a chance to win the Sectional 14 title. Both teams started out with 3 and out for their first offensive series and neither team could get a good sequence of plays strung together until just before halftime when Warrior RB Jonathon Crowley had a 33 yard run down to Franklin’s 15-yard line. On the next play, QB Kevin Denham threw his first of 2 TD’s to Gunnar Hicks to go up 10-0 with 14.8 seconds left. Whiteland received the 2nd half kickoff and made the most of it with another TD throw from Denham to TE Cameron Cooper for 24 yards and a 17-0 lead. The Warriors turned around and immediately recovered an onside kick, but came away with no extra points. Whiteland added an extra score with 8:48 to go to make the final score 24-0. Whiteland’s defense limited Franklin to a total of 4 first downs and 92 yards offense for the game. It will be another rematch with a Mid-State foe next Friday as Whiteland hosts Plainfield for the Regional Title. | Kevin Denham makes a pass attempt against Franklin.
