The strong effort secured the program's fourth straight top-10 and 11th top-20 finish in the past 12 years.
The Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in 14 sports – seven women’s and seven men’s.
A mid-spring release had UIndy, which competes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, in 15th place – led by women's golf scoring 100 points alone – but the Hounds leapt even higher with the final results of four more teams. A Division II World Series appearance from softball earned 78 points, while men’s golf brought home 61.5 points from a 14th-place showing at the D-II national championship. Men’s and women’s track and field combined to score 47.5 points.
