The Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution’s finish in up to 14 sports – seven women’s and seven men’s.
Sitting in 24th after the winter standings, UIndy vaulted into the top 10 with a strong spring. The women’s golf team led the way with 90 points scored after its runner-up performance at the national championships in May.
Both tennis teams advanced to the Sweet 16 this spring, scoring 64 points apiece, followed by baseball (50) and women’s outdoor track and field (25).
